Parents and guardians of CUSD #4 students I wanted to share with you this afternoon our school district went on a soft lock down as a preventative measure due to a situation in town today (Aug. 30, 2017). A soft lock down basically requires staff to secure all outside entries and not to allow any individuals into the buildings. Students still continued with their educational activities within the building. At no time were any students or staff in imminent danger. Our staff reacted very well and operations were returned to normal once the situation was resolved.
Again, we want to assure you that your child's safety is first and foremost in our minds and we will always error on the side of caution.
Thank you,
Scott D. Riddle, Superintendent

Unity HS Investigation
Tuesday, February 3, 2015
A Unity High School student posted a general threat of violence to everyone at school on a social media site. We care about our students and staff, and take seriously any threat to their safety. When we were made aware of the incident, we immediately contacted local authorities. At no point in time were any students or staff in any danger. There was no incident at school. There was never a need for a lock down - or any interruption in classes at Unity High School. Students are going about their day as usual.
We are very grateful for the partnership we have with the Adams County Sheriff's department. They responded quickly to the situation, and conduct their investigation in such a manner that school is interrupted as little as possible. The ongoing support they provide is a great example of serving and protecting in such a manner that secures safety, but does not infringe on daily activities unless necessary. Local officials and school administrators will continue to work together to ensure students and staff are safe at school.
