Fall is here... colder weather, parent-teacher conferences, football playoffs, volleyball regionals. We have seemingly returned to what we used to know as school. Gone are the days of remote instruction, masking, etc. The phrase, "We have turned the page on the pandemic," is appropriate. I am proud of our district and how we navigated the past 2-3 years. Was it easy? No! Did we have problems and issues? Yes. But we were able to tackle them and do what was best for our students and our schools. Thank you to our staff for all they did to make things work! Thank you also to our community for all they did to help our schools.
We have been able to hire drivers to be able to return to our old bus routes. Thank you to all the parents for their help and support as we worked through the driver shortage. We are still hiring and adding drivers to help with extra curricular trips and also to sub when our regular drivers are out. If you are interested please contact the district office.
We are working on multiple projects around the district. Many of you know we have had issues with our boilers, but they now have been replaced and a new software system installed to help with running them efficiently and monitoring any problems. The next phase we are working on is replacing the classroom units and units in the hallways. Many of these are in need of repair or replacement. We are tackling this by identifying those that can be repaired and those that cannot and replacing them in phases. This system has been problematic since it was installed and unfortunately, we are at a point where many units are not functioning properly.
We had an open house for our new science labs during PT Conferences. These labs were originally done in the early 80s and definitely needed upgraded. We also have systematically replaced the old, worn out, furniture in the high school and middle school classrooms. Our goal is to upgrade our facilities and equipment so our students and staff have a safe, enjoyable learning atmosphere.
Part of creating a safe atmosphere is upgrading our doors, windows, and security systems. We have begun that process with a new camera system to help monitor the district better. We are in the process of installing new locks on our classroom doors to help secure them. We also are looking to update some of our exterior doors and install electronic security on them as well.
We have a lot going on and are thankful that we are able to do all we can to provide the best educational experience for our students. Thank you again for all your support. Please feel free to stop in any time if you have questions, concerns, or suggestions.
